The Paper Players #538: Claire's Sketch Challenge

Hi Friends! This week is a sketch challenge over at The Paper Players:

I think sketch challenges are one of my favorites because they give you such a great starting point (especially if you're missing your mojo)!

I had these cute little die cuts that I had stamped, colored, and die cut but they were missing a home.  This sketch was a perfect way to showcase them 😉

Here's the products I used:

  • Ellen Hutson 'Just Squidding' Stamps & Dies
  • Stampin' Up Blends
  • Hero Arts Wave Die
  • Doodlebug Design DSP from 'Anchors Aweigh'

Thanks for stopping by ~ Have a great week!

Hugs,

Annie

The Paper Players #530: Ann's Sketch Challenge

Hi Friends! Today I'm posting for the latest challenge over at The Paper Players:

Ann has come up with a great sketch and since "spring" was in the air here yesterday, I went with a springy Easter card:

On a pink card base, I first embossed a yellow cardstock layer from my scraps with a basket weave embossing folder from Lifestyle Crafts. The next layer is a background I created quite a while ago with an old Bokeh stamp set and Catherine Pooler inks.  I popped up a chick, colored with Copics, that never made it on a card last Easter from Pink & Main's Easter Peeps stamp set along with a sentiment from the same set.  It felt good to use bits and pieces that I had saved...I definitely need to do that more often!

Thanks for stopping by ~ Hope you're having a good week!

Annie

The Paper Players #525: Joanne's Sketch Challenge

Hello Friends! I was finally able to play along with a challenge today...it's been a while!   I'm linking up to the latest challenge over at The Paper Players where Joanne has put together an easy sketch:

And to make it even more fun, I was finally able to play with new stuff from Stampin' Up!  My card is using the Art Gallery stamps and dies as well as the gorgeous Fine Art Floral DSP:

Using just one piece of 6x6 DSP, I cut the top panel using Mama Elephant's rectangle scalloped die, then flipped the DSP over for the background layer and popped up the scalloped die cut.  The artsy flower was stamped with SU's Daffodil Delight, So Saffron, and Crushed Curry and layered and popped up over the stem in Old Olive.  The sentiment is also from the same stamp set.  What a fun sketch!

Thanks for stopping by to visit.

The Paper Players #514: Jaydee's Sketch Challenge

Hi Friends! Well, I finally started my Christmas cards and put away Halloween.  I'm playing along over at The Paper Players with a great sketch from Jaydee:

I like the three focal points and was completely inspired by Joanne's gorgeous card from the DT.  Besides loving her choice of nontraditional colors, I had just received Stampin' Up's Sweetest Time stamps and dies and had not used them yet.  To change it up, I used traditional Christmas colors (SU Real Red, Just Jade, Shaded Spruce) and added gold accents with SU Beautiful Boughs dies.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the mojo boost, Joanne!

Annie

The Paper Players #510: Joanne's Sketch Challenge

Hi Friends! Joanne has created a fun sketch to play along with this week over at The Paper Players:

Look at those layers! Love the chance to use DSP in so many different ways!

And yep, I'm still playing with Halloween cards - one of my faves to make.  I substituted my die cut witchy legs (DieVersions) and witch hat (Darice) for the banner in the sketch. The DSP is from MFT's Creepy Confections and the sentiment is from MFT's Spooky Sentiments.

Thanks for stopping by!

The Paper Players Challenge #501: Sketch Challenge from Anne Marie

Hi Friends!  Today I'm playing along over at The Paper Players for this week's Sketch Challenge hosted by Anne Marie:

And here's my card:

I feel like I cheated on this one.  I took a great sketch and the leftover bits from Stampin' Up's June Paper Pumpkin kit and BOOM...I had a card!  The only thing I added was the Daffodil Delight card base and I heat embossed the sentiment on a scrap of black cardstock.  Yep...feel like I cheated!

Thanks for stopping by ~ I hope you're having a good week!

Annie

The Paper Players #497: A Sketch Challenge from Claire

Hi Friends!  Claire is hosting a fun sketch challenge this week over at the Paper Players:

I decided to use the supplies I had on my desk to see what I could come up with for this one.  I did rotate the sketch a turn:

I hope you can read the sentiment.  I really liked it, especially during the current times:  "There's no lemon so sour that you can't make something resembling lemonade."

Supplies Used:
Scrap DSP
Pinkfresh Studio Sweet Lemonade Stamps & Dies
Distress Inks
Nuvo Gloss Glitter Pen
Clear Enamel Dots

Cheers!  Thanks for stopping by!

The Paper Players Sketch Challenge #492

Hi Friends!  I'm posting today for the latest sketch challenge over at The Paper Players

I went clean and simple with this one and used a 'rectangle' Thanks sentiment from Concord & 9th for the focal point.

I die cut the sentiment from an alcohol ink rainbow background that I made a while ago.  The white heat embossed sentiment is from Impress.  I scattered a few SU glitter enamel dots to finish off the card.

Thanks for stopping by ~ Have a great weekend!

The Paper Players #488: Laurie's Sketch

Hi there! I'm posting for the new sketch challenge over at The Paper Players and I can't believe I am actually posting this early...for me!

Laurie came up with an easy peasy sketch that's versatile for any occasion. I'd been playing with a new stamp set (for me) from Stampin' Up called High Tide.  I thought the lighthouse scene would work great for the larger image:

I used Hero Arts' Wave & Sea Confetti Die for the background layer over the Neenah Solar White card base.  I die cut the lighthouse scene with MFT's stitched rectangle die and layered it onto some red cardstock.  I added a double bow of May Arts' red twine before popping up the lighthouse.  I also added some Nuvo Glitter Gloss to the light beam and Nuvo Seashell drops to the sandy beach to finish off the card.  I just noticed I didn't use quite as many layers as the sketch called for...oops!   Hope that's okay!

Thanks for stopping by ~ Have a good week!

Freshly Made Sketches #432

Hello Friends!  I'm playing along over at Freshly Made Sketches #432 today:

The Bird Ballad DSP from Stampin' Up really did most of the work on this card. I die cut the MFT Tag (BP5) out of pink cardstock and then die cut it again to inlay the DSP with the darling bird and flowers.  I stamped some leaves from SU Free as a Bird and than popped up the tag over another little strip of DSP.  I added the sentiment from Gina K.'s Tiny Textures and a bit of hemp cord to the tag to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by ~ I hope you have a great week!

Freshly Made Sketches #430

Happy Easter!  Strange day today...streamed church service and no family dinner.  But, all friends and family are doing well so lots to be thankful for.  With some time on my hands, I played along with a couple of challenges.  This one is for the latest Freshly Made Sketch:

I was going for a clean and simple masculine "hello" card and this sketch and the 'Say it in Diamonds' stamps from Catherine Pooler were a perfect match.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope your Easter was a good one!

Hugs,
Annie

The Paper Players #483: Claire's Sketch Challenge

Hello! Back again with another card for the latest challenge over at The Paper Players:

Such an easy sketch for any occasion!  I went with a monochrome look for a friendship card:

I don't know why, but I just love the Calypso Coral color from Stampin' Up.  I used both the cardstock and ink for this card.  The SU Country Floral Embossing Folder was perfect for a very textured layer.  I inked the embossed layer with white pigment ink for highlights and fussy cut one of the roses out of the center for a little embellishment.  The stitched rectangles and ric rac are from MFT.  The sentiment is from SU's So Sentimental stamp set and layered on SU's Stitched So Sweetly die cuts.  A little bit of SU Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon and tiny white pearls finished the card.

Thanks for stopping by ~ Stay well!

Freshly Made Sketches #427

Hi Friends! Waiting for the sun to come out so I can get out of the house and work in the yard, I put together a card for the latest sketch challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches:

I pulled out my beachy-themed stamps for this card with a sentiment for a special friend having a difficult time:

I stamped the card base with Hero Arts Bubbles background stamp in DI Tumbled Glass.  The 'water' strip is from an alcohol background I made in my stash.  The fish and grass are from MFT's Adorned Ocean Friends and the sentiment from MFT's Ocean Fun stamp set.  I added sparkle to the sea grass and a few 'clear' bubbles to finish the card.

Thanks for stopping by ~ stay well and send a paper hug to a friend that may need it!

Freshly Made Sketches #425

Hi Friends!  I made a few cards today while waiting for it to warm up outside.  The first one was for Freshly Made Sketches #425:

This card came together pretty quickly.  I had already made up quite a few of the Pleasant Pansy die cuts from Altenew a few days ago.  I stamped Birch Press Hex Fades in the background and added splatters using Catherine Pooler's Stone Blue ink.  The sentiment is from MFT's Heap of Hellos. I like how it turned out but I think I went a little overboard with the splatters!  I think less would have been more.

Thanks for stopping by ~ I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Hugs,
Annie

The Paper Players #479: A Sketch from LeAnne

What a great sketch from LeAnne over at The Paper Players this week!  I love sketches like this that give me a chance to use some gorgeous DSP:

And speaking of gorgeous DSP, the Peaceful Poppies set from Stampin' Up may be the first time I met the UPS driver at the truck when he pulled up in front of my house!  I thought that set would be perfect for this sketch and I really let the paper do the work on this one:

I used SU's Poppy Parade for the card base, added May Art's red twine, and some Nuvo drops in purple and red.  The heat embossed sentiment is from SU's Peaceful Moments.

Thanks for stopping by ~ have a great week!

Annie

Freshly Made Sketches #420: A Sketch by Jen T.

Back again with another challenge card! This one used the latest sketch from Jen T. over at Freshly Made Sketches as the jumping off point:

I am finishing up my Valentines so I can get them in the mail next week.  I love this heart stencil by Alexandra Renke.  With some Nuvo Moonstone Glitter Paste it just sparkles and really only needed a sentiment.  I found a great sentiment from SSS, layered the heart on black cardstock, and added to a white card base.

Thanks for stopping by ~ Have a great weekend!

The Paper Players #475: A Sketch Challenge from Joanne

Hi Friends! This week Joanne is hosting the Sketch Challenge over at The Paper Players and it's a great one with soooo many different ways to go:

I'm in the middle of making my Valentine's cards and thought this sketch was perfect for my DGS's card featuring 6 different alien monsters for my favorite human!

First, I stamped the brick background before cutting the six holes in the card layers.  I then stamped and die cut the monsters (MFT 'More Monsters') in rainbow colors and popped them into place.  I white heat embossed the sentiment from the same stamp set and popped it up.  For finishing touches, I used a white gel pen, a Nuvo Glitter Gloss pen, and Glossy Accents for the eyeballs.   I love these guys!

Thanks for stopping by today ~ hope you're having a good week!

Hugs,
Annie
